What to Expect When You Send a Message to Your Provider Through My UNC Chart

All messages are routed initially to a “Nurse Pool”. This ensures that simple or straightforward messages will be addressed as soon as possible, including refill requests for certain medications or supplies, questions about preparing for a visit, and other questions that our trained nursing staff are qualified to answer.

Messages that require provider review will be forwarded to your provider within 1-2 business days of receipt. Your provider will make every effort to respond within another 1-2 business days. If the question is complex, or if you have not been seen in follow up in the recommended time frame, your provider may forward your message to our scheduling staff to assist you in making a follow up appointment. This helps ensure your safety and optimal care.

Please do not send urgent messages through My UNC Chart. For time-sensitive issues, please call the clinic at 984-974-2950 and leave a message on the nurse line. Our nursing staff generally check messages every 1-2 hours during the business day.

If you have a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department.
