The wearable patch, called the Spatiotemporal On-Demand Patch (SOP), can receive commands wirelessly from a smartphone or computer to schedule and trigger the release of drugs from individual microneedles.

UNC Addiction Medicine Researchers Collaborate to Combat Evolving Drug Supply

Zoe McElligott, PhD, was one of three UNC addiction medicine researchers featured in Vital Signs. This translational research team is battling the opioid epidemic by analyzing the ever-changing composition of street drugs and testing how emerging drug combination such as xylazine and fentanyl interact in rodent models.
