Key Benefits 

  • The program is virtual, so patients are able to receive therapy at home while maintaining a work or school schedule. 
  • Treatments follow a schedule and routine, so patients know what to expect. 
  • Patients can practice skills at home that they are learning in treatment. 
  • Since patients live at home, they are encouraged to strengthen their network of friends and family members who will support them as they recover. 

Treatment Modalities 

  • Virtual therapeutic services  
  • Length of Services: 6wks  -  3days  -  3hours 
  • Interventions: Group therapy, individual and/or family therapy and medication management. 
  • Modalities: CBT, DBT, and ACT

What to Expect 

  • Psychoeducation: topics covered include psychiatric medications, psychiatric diagnoses, building social supports, preventing relapse of symptoms and how to build resiliency, to name a few.
  • Skills Building:  includes distress tolerance, behavior activation, emotional regulation, mindfulness, self-compassion, grounding and others
  • Processing: focus is on group dynamics and the shared experience

 Schedule 

  • The young adult group meets from 9a-12p on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays.  
  • The adolescent group meets from 2p-5p on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

Week 1:  Foundations- Introduction to CBT, DBT and ACT

Week 2:  Stress Management + Don’t Believe Everything You Think 

Week 3: Social Networks and Supports 

Week 4: Emotional Regulation 

Week 5:  Distress Tolerance

Week 6: Self-Awareness, Self-Care & Intentional Action 

Insurance 

  • We accept most commercial insurance including BCBS, Aetna, Aetna SHP, and Cigna. 
  • UNC Financial Assistance is available for those who are uninsured and unable to pay for the service.  
  • Self-pay is also an option. 
  • To make a referral in Epic, select “AMB REFERRAL TO PSYCH” and “UNC PSYCHIATRY IOP CHAPEL HILL” as the location.
