What is IMPACTT-NC

IMPACTT-NC (Improving Adolescent and Child health Through Telepsychiatry in NC) provides short term therapy and psychiatric medication management virtually in certain school and community sites throughout North Carolina.. The care team is made up of therapists and child and adolescent psychiatrists. Children and adolescents conveniently connect to telehealth sessions from school or community sites while their caregivers can join from the same location (at some sites) or join remotely via phone or internet-connected devices.

Mission: Partner with schools and community sites to provide accessible, highquality behavioral health services for North Carolina’s children and adolescents.

Vision: Every child in North Carolina can easily access behavioral health care to achieve their highest potential.

Our Model: We augment—not replace—local services by collaborating with health systems, health departments, and schools, individualizing approaches for each community, and providing both psychotherapy and psychiatric care via secure telehealth.

2030 Goal: Create at least one access point for specialty child & adolescent psychiatry in each of NC’s 100 counties.

IMPACTT-NC offers care where students are

We provide virtual care from school and community locations to children and adolescents ages 4 through the end of high school.

IMPACTT-NC offers evidence-based and effective care.

Over 80% of participating children and adolescents showed improvement in depression and anxiety symptoms, based on results from standardized measures.*

* IMPACTT-NC is committed to measurement-based care and uses standardized measures at regular intervals throughout the treatment period. Some of our regularly used measures include the PHQ-9 and GAD-7.

IMPACTT-NC offers specialty mental health services.

IMPACTT-NC provides virtual, short-term therapy and/or psychiatric medication management for youth seeking services for a range of mental health concerns.

IMPACTT-NC prioritizes school and community partnerships.

One Program, Different Names

IMPACTT-NC is a statewide program, but in a few locations our work is known under a different name. In Johnston County, IMPACTT-NC’s service is known as “CATCH-Johnston”. Our work in Johnston County originally launched in 2023, funded by The Duke Endowment. As our statewide IMPACTT-NC program grew, it made sense to bring CATCH-Johnston under the IMPACTT-NC program.

In Granville County, IMPACTT-NC has partnered with Granville Vance Public Health and Granville County Schools to form a collaboration known as “UNC-GIFTS.”

Although the names are different in these locations, the commitment to excellence remains the same.

IMPACTT-NC initial funding was provided by the SECU Foundation. The Johnston County program, CATCH-Johnston, was made possible by initial funding from The Duke Endowment. Additional support from the Bodie Foundation and Margaret and Edward Holmes. IMPACTT-NC is grateful for current funding from The Duke Endowment, The Leon Levine Foundation, Camber Foundation, and private donors. If you are interested in supporting IMPACTT-NC’s work please reach out to the UNC Health Foundation.
