North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center

A joint effort by the Home Safety Council and Weekly Reader, Smart Safe is a fire and burn safety program targeted at children ages 4-6 and their families. The goal of the program is to reduce the number of home fires and burn injuries to preschoolers. The program is available in English and Spanish.

The North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center Community Outreach staff works with preschool educators and fire departments throughout the state to conduct training sessions. There is a strong emphasis on involving parents and exposing the preschool audience to local fire fighters.

For additional information, visit the Start Safe web site. The I Spot Something Hot home video is available in English and Spanish.
