Epilepsy
The UNC Epilepsy program offers a full spectrum of therapy for patients with recurrent seizures. The Epilepsy Center has state of the art diagnostic equipment and detailed experience with medical, surgical and device therapies. The center primarily focuses on the treatment of those patients who continue to have seizures despite therapy. The center’s two epileptologist who focus primarily on adults with epilepsy work in concert with the four child neurologist (Division of Child Neurology) who are all nationally recognized in the field of epilepsy.
Albert Hinn, M.D. specializes in the care of patients with epilepsy. Dr. Hinn is board certified in electroencephalography and is an expert in prolonged clinical neurophysiological monitoring. Dr. Hinn’s interests include new therapies for epilepsy and OR monitoring. Dr. Vaughn and Dr Hinn both lead an array of medication trials for epilepsy.
Bradley Vaughn, M.D. also has an interest in novel therapies for epilepsy and led investigations at UNC into device therapy for epilepsy. As one of the investigating centers, the UNC Epilepsy Center has one of the largest and longest experiences with vagus nerve stimulation.
