Congratulations to Dr. Leslie Parise, Professor and Chair of Biochemistry & Biophysics, who has been elected as chair of the Federal Issues Subcommittee of Public Affairs Advisory Committee for ASBMB.

Dr. Parise has been elected to serve as the chair of the Federal Issues Subcommittee of the Public Affairs Advisory Committee for the ASBMB. Her term begins July 1, 2013 and run for one year. Dr. Parise’s main goal on the committee is “…to help ASBMB effectively communicate scientific priorities and accomplishments to the public and to our government,” and “A secondary goal for me is to gain increased visibility for our Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics within ASBMB.”

Founded in 1906, the Society’s purpose is to advance the science of biochemistry and molecular biology through publication of scientific and educational journals: the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Molecular & Cellular Proteomics, and the Journal of Lipid Research, organization of scientific meetings, advocacy for funding of basic research and education, support of science education at all levels, and promoting the diversity of individuals entering the scientific workforce.
