Cook and Ramos Labs publish “The RNA binding protein ZFP36L2 displays tissue-selective mRNA targeting in mice” in RNA Biology. The study examines how the RNA-binding protein ZFP36L2 targets messenger RNAs in a tissue-selective manner, contributing to a deeper understanding of post-transcriptional gene regulation. Congrats to George Stephen Stephenson, Dalia Fleifel, Jeanette Gowen Cook, Alain Laederach, and Silvia Beatriz Vieira Ramos.

Using a newly developed algorithm and cancer genome data, UNC scientists (Liu lab) identified a class of mutations that cancer uses to promote survival and growth. Their findings show how colorectal cancer hijacks BUD13 mutations to inactivate a major tumor suppressor and suggest a new targeted treatment approach for patients
