Each year the Department of Otolaryngology at UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill will offer free voice screenings in observance of World Voice Day.

The purpose of World Voice Day is to educate people about the importance of the voice for each and every one of us as a tool for communication. The screening event helps to identify patients with previously undetected voice concerns or issues, especially those patients without access to health care or insurance. In addition, the event offers education to help you optimize your voice, whether by identifying the problem, helping to treat it, or putting you in touch with other people that have similar voice problems for support.

If you have ever lost your voice or have persistent hoarseness you know how frustrating this can be and the impacts it can play in your everyday activities. Early diagnosis and treatment improves voice quality and overall quality of life. The free voice screening exams take about 10 minutes.
