Funding & Training Grants
Funding and Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND)
Funding opportunities for both lifespan interest and pediatric interest AUD students will be discussed in detail at interviews.
Of particular interest for pediatric interest students in the North Carolina LEND Program (NC-LEND) which has been based at UNC Chapel Hill for over 40 years with audiology as one of the core disciplines. LEND programs across the U.S. receive federal funding from the US Maternal and Child Health Bureau to provide long-term, graduate level interdisciplinary training as well as interdisciplinary services and care. The purpose of the LEND training program is to improve the health of infants, children, and adolescents with disabilities. They accomplish this by preparing trainees from diverse professional disciplines to assume leadership roles in their respective fields and by ensuring high levels of interdisciplinary clinical competence. The core LEND grant and the LEND Pediatric Audiology Supplemental Grant, which UNC has had for over 10 years, provide funding and specialized training in developmental disabilities for four AuD students each year.
