Notes

  • When uploading multiple videos or bulk uploading, it is best to name the videos in advance. You can also edit the names later using the Edit button for the content.
  • HeelStream is not for the purpose of archiving, and does not keep a copy of your full quality original files. Be sure NOT to delete your original files after uploading to HeelStream.
  • At the Publish step, if you do not want your video to be accessible yet, you may click the Media Library icon at the top of the screen.
  • Per the User Agreement, uploaded content must be in compliance with the Acceptable Usage Policy.

Notes

  • Every playlist is created with a “Default Category”. This category is where videos can be assigned if you choose to not create custom categories.

Notes

  • Clarification on settings for Quick Publish vs. Plugin Embed Codes:
Any modifications made to Quick Publish settings will affect what anyone who has the link sees. For instance, if you send a link on Tuesday, and then on Thursday decide to change it so that the Quick Publish page shows any attachments related to the video, the people who received the link on Tuesday.Customizations made to Plugin will be reflected within the Custom Embed Code. Therefore, modifying the Plugin settings later will have no effect on playlists that are already embedded on pages unless you replace the previous code with the newly generated code.
  • Anytime content or playlists are shared, you should include information about how the content is allowed to be used. (Are people allowed to share the content with others? Is it allowed to be downloaded?)

Instruction Sheet

Notes

  • For content that you apply restrictions to, it is recommended to NOT have a Download Link enabled. Note that allowing people to download content opens up the opportunity for the content to be shared elsewhere.

Notes

  • IMS can only provide limited support for functions related to modifying HTML or CSS (widgets, playlist window customization). You would need to rely on your department’s web designers/developers. For assistance on the UNC School of Medicine Website/Content Management system, you may also consult with the OIS Web Design and Development team at webhelp@med.unc.edu.
