Biography

Dr. Hazelton received his Medical Degree from the University of South Florida in 1993 and stayed on to complete his Diagnostic Radiology residency. He then continued his training at the University of Colorado in Denver, completing his fellowship in Thoracic Imaging in 1998.

After fellowship, Dr. Hazelton accepted a faculty position at the University of South Florida, where he served as an attending thoracic radiologist at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Tampa General Hospital. He remained at USF for over two decades.  During his tenure at USF, Dr. Hazelton served as Residency Program Director as well as Department Chair and was also the recipient of multiple teaching awards.

He has written multiple articles for peer-reviewed journals and served as a lead site investigator as part of the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST) research team. Dr. Hazelton’s passions are medical student and resident education as well as leadership that encourages diversity of thought, creates a culture of trust, and empowers others to grow personally and professionally.
