MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

Welcome to the Department of Radiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am pleased that you are looking through our site and hope that the information is helpful to you. If you wish to have any additional information, please feel free to contact us directly.

At UNC Radiology, we seek to provide excellent and compassionate state-of-the-art care to our patients, equip medical students with basic imaging knowledge, train future academic and private practice radiologists, and engage in cutting-edge radiological sciences and clinical research.

The Department provides a wide array of diagnostic imaging tests utilizing the most advanced imaging equipment available, ranging from conventional x-ray to dual source multi-detector CT, 3 Tesla MRIs and multi-slice PET/CT and MR/PET. A variety of sophisticated and advanced image-guided treatment procedures, such as radiofrequency, cryo and microwave ablation of tumors, prostatic artery embolization, kyphoplasty, and occlusion of intracranial aneurysms are also available. At UNC Radiology, not only are we pioneers in pushing the boundaries of this exciting field, but we also take great pride in being leaders in providing safest care available.

UNC Radiology faculty are editors of prominent journals, authors of leading textbooks, and individuals who hold leadership positions in national radiological organizations such as the American College of Radiology and the American Board of Radiology.

UNC Radiology offers highly competitive residency positions in diagnostic and interventional radiology, among the best training programs in the United States. We also offer fellowship positions in neuroradiology, abdominal imaging, cardiothoracic imaging, breast imaging, musculoskeletal and molecular imaging.

We are also privileged to be part of one of the nation’s most prominent and comprehensive healthcare campuses featuring the UNC Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Dentistry. This unique setting provides an opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary research not available at most other institutions.

We hope you enjoy your visit and have an opportunity to see our dynamic, dedicated faculty and staff who have made our Department one of the best in the country. Thank you again for your interest in UNC Radiology.
