The Department of Neurology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and UNC Hospitals offers training in neurology for residents and fellows.

Residency Programs

The Department offers residency training programs in adult and child neurology. Both programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) for board eligibility in neurology or in neurology with special competence in child neurology.

The adult neurology residency is a categorical four-year program. The child neurology residency is an advance three-year program.

Fellowships

ACGME-accredited fellowships are available in vascular neurology, epilepsy, neuromuscular diseases and sleep medicine.

Additional fellowships include: electrodiagnostic medicine and neuromuscular disease; neuroimmunology/multiple sclerosis; movement disorders and deep brain stimulation; and neurocritical care and neuropsychological aspects of HIV.
