Professional Pathways
Leadership Training
There are many opportunities for leadership development training ranging from reading resources, free campus programs, competitive programs on campus, to off-campus courses requiring fees. For courses requiring fees, the Department of Neurology has a limited amount of resources available. Funds available for support of these training opportunities vary year to year.
UNC Center for Faculty Excellence
The UNC Center for Faculty Excellence provides all faculty with development opportunities to build knowledge and skills needed to successfully carry out their leadership and organizational responsibilities at various stages of their career.
Teaching Training
The School of Medicine and the Department of Neurology offer several levels of training courses for leadership in academic medicine as well as teacher training programs. Some of these programs require nomination by the department.
Academy of Educators
The UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine Academy of Educators was founded in October 2006 as a part of the school’s strategic plan to enhance research and scholarship towards excellence in teaching.
Research Training
Our faculty continually develops new knowledge through research, using it to understand and treat neurological conditions. Our accomplishments and research leadership not only raises our visibility nationally, but provides the faculty and staff opportunities to participate in the development of new treatments and potential cures. Most importantly, this means having the latest clinical trials available to our patients. Each of our division web pages details more information about their specific research endeavors.
The Department of Neurology has many nationally and internationally renowned research experts in Neurological subspecialties.
