
We are proud to announce that Dr. Irena Dujmovic Basuroski has been promoted from Clinical Associate Professor to Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurology, effective November 1, 2025.
Dr. Dujmovic Basuroski joined UNC in 2017 and currently serves as Division Chief of Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology, Director of the MS/Neuroimmunology Fellowship, and Medical Director of the UNC Neurology Clinic in Hillsborough. She is internationally recognized for her expertise in multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders, and transverse myelitis, and has established UNC’s Comprehensive MS Care Center and the Bodford Family Transverse Myelitis Center—the only center of its kind in North Carolina.
Her impressive academic and clinical record includes:
- 34 peer-reviewed publications, multiple book chapters, and leadership in international research collaborations.
- Outstanding teaching contributions, including innovative MS workshops for residents and fellows, earning her the UNC Neurology Faculty Teaching Award (2021, 2024).
- Exemplary patient care, recognized with the Carolina Care Excellence Award in 2024.
- Service on national and international committees, including the European Consortium for Biomarker Research in MS and the Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation International Clinical Consortium.
