About

Dr. Molina was a Professor and Executive Vice Chairman of the Department of Radiology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. His principal area of interest and expertise was thoracic radiology with special interests in lung cancer, trauma and 3-D imaging. He authored or co-authored over 65 original scientific publications and 11 book chapters on topics ranging from thoracic neoplasms and trauma to variants of normal anatomy and pitfalls in body imaging. Dr. Molina delivered more than 200 presentations as a guest lecturer or visiting professor at medical centers around the world and at major radiologic science symposiums. He is active in numerous national and international societies, including the North Carolina Radiological Society, the American College of Radiology, the Society of Thoracic Radiology, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the Radiological Society of North America. He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and has been listed in the Consumers’ Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Radiologists on multiple occasions.

Dr. Molina has been recognized for exceptional talent as an educator of medical students and radiology residents as the recipient of numerous Dean’s Excellence in Teaching and Teacher-of-the-Year awards at the University of North Carolina School Of Medicine. He is a fellow of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine Academy of Educators. On two separate occasions, he has been a nationwide finalist for the ACGME’s Parker J. Palmer “Courage to Teach” award.
