Simulation training for surgical and medical procedures

The Multidisciplinary Simulation Laboratory, part of the UNC Department of Surgery, provides simulation training in surgical and medical procedures for resident physicians, medical students, physicians, nurses and surgical technologists. The center also hosts medical industry simulation training.

The simulation center opened in 2014 as part of the UNC Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and is on the 10th floor (Room 1001) of Brinkhous-Bullitt Building. It consists of three simulation labs, one operating room with attached control room, a resident workroom with seven work spaces, two rooms with six office spaces for research, and a conference room.

Brinkhous-Bullitt Building is behind UNC Hospitals, at 160 N. Medical Drive, Chapel Hill, NC. Parking for outside visitors is available in the Dogwood Parking Deck, across from UNC Hospitals at the corner of Manning Drive and New East Drive.

For information about using the lab, contact lab manager Neal Murty at or fill out a Sim lab request form and email it to him. The telephone number of the lab is 919-962-3125.
