QUICK TIPS

Thing to remember after you selected a plan:

  • Pay your monthly premiums
  • Schedule an appointment with your primary care doctor if you selected a new one
  • Update your insurance information when you go see a doctor
  • Pay your out-of-pocket expenses like copays when you visit the doctor
  • If you have a qualifying life event, e.g. you have a baby, get married, or divorced, go to healthcare.gov to update your information

Things to consider when selecting a plan:

  • Amount of financial assistance you may be able to receive
  • Amount of premium you would be required to pay
  • Type of plan
  • Are you doctors in the network (and if so, what tier)
  • Level and type of cost sharing, e.g. copays,  for different plans and tiered networks
  • If the plan has a deductible, what services are covered before you meet the deductible
  • What is the difference between obtaining in-network or out-of-network care
  • Whether your prescription medicines are in formulary, and if so, what level of cost sharing is required
