Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship
The Obstetric Anesthesiology fellowship program at UNC obtained ACGME accreditation on July 1, 2016. The fellowship is sponsored by the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC. The fellowship program is centered at the main UNC Hospital campus. We currently have 1 fellowship position per year.
The Obstetric Anesthesiology faculty consists of a core group of board certified obstetric anesthesiologists. UNC Hospitals has >4000 deliveries a year, with a large percentage of pregnancies complicated by high-risk fetal and/or maternal conditions. We are a tertiary care facility with a level 4 NICU as well as a collaborative Maternal Fetal Medicine division. UNC is a Level 4 Maternal Care Center and has been designated a Center of Excellence by the Society for Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology (SOAP).
