Dr. Oztas will join the faculty in Koc University in September 2020. In his own lab, he will pursue two main research programs: the maintenance of genome stability in plants under DNA-damaging environmental stress and the symbiotic interaction between plants and microbes.
During his tenure as a postdoc in Dr. Aziz Sancar’s lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Dr. Oztas focused on nucleotide excision repair in plants and circadian regulation of posttranscriptional mechanisms and his research was published in prominent journals.
