Yael Shiloh-Malawsky, MDThe UNC Department of Neurology is proud to announce that Dr. Yael Shiloh‑Malawsky has been selected to receive the Excellence in Patient and Family Care Award from Carolina For The Kids Foundation, the largest student‑run nonprofit in North Carolina. Carolina For The Kids is dedicated to providing meaningful medical, emotional, and financial support to the patients and families at UNC Children’s Hospital.

This annual award recognizes clinicians and medical staff who go above and beyond in delivering compassionate, patient‑centered care. Each year, nurses, physicians, and medical personnel across UNC Children’s are invited to nominate colleagues who have made a profound impact on patients, families, and their care teams. Dr. Shiloh‑Malawsky’s nomination reflects her extraordinary dedication to children and families navigating rare and complex neurological conditions. She consistently provides innovative, empathetic care—often when options are limited—and is a strong advocate for inclusive medical education and mentorship, ensuring that both her patients and future physicians are supported with empathy, equity, and excellence.

As an award recipient, Dr. Shiloh‑Malawsky will be honored at the 24th Annual Benefit Reception on Friday, February 20, at The Carolina Club from 7–10 p.m., where she will be recognized as a special guest. The Benefit Reception is one of Carolina For The Kids’ largest annual fundraisers, featuring an evening of food and drinks, entertainment, a silent and online auction, and awards celebrating outstanding hospital staff.

Colleagues, friends, and supporters are warmly invited to attend the Benefit Reception to celebrate Dr. Shiloh‑Malawsky’s well‑deserved recognition and to support Carolina For The Kids’ mission.
