IT Security Training and Compliance

All UNC employees must complete IT Security Training and Compliance every year, and if your department or center is in the School of Medicine, you will also need to complete the School of Medicine HIPAA Security and Privacy Training and Compliance every year. You can find these training modules using the links listed below.

  1. UNC IT Security Training and Compliance: https://itsapps.unc.edu/ITSSelfStudy/. This module requires logging in with your UNC Onyen. If you do not have an Onyen, you will need to visit: http://onyen.unc.edu. Once you log in you can check the last time you completed your training by looking under ITS Training History Lookup and clicking on “Check Your Training Results. You will also be able to complete the training module and quizzes by clicking on “Computer Security and Awareness 2010” under Training Modules
  2. The School of Medicine HIPAA Training and Compliance Module can be found by visiting: http://hipaatrain.med.unc.edu/. You can check the last date you completed the HIPAA training by visiting: http://www.med.unc.edu/cgi-bin/hipaa/hipaacertificate.pl and entering your PID number then clicking Submit.

Once your training modules are complete, print a certificate and give it to your personnel manager.
