During the 2020-2021 academic year, 8 of our graduate students received prestigious external fellowships. UNC Biochemistry and Biophysics students have earned graduate research fellowships from the NSF and NRSA. The fellowship program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines.
Fellows share in the prestige and opportunities that become available when they are selected. This year, UNC Biochemistry and Biophysics is proud to announce six Biochemistry and Biophysics graduate students who are recipients of this prestigious fellowship:
- Cathy Anderson, NIH NRSA Fellowship (F99/K00) – National Cancer Institute
- Tatyana Bodrug, NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program
- Keean Braceros, NIH NRSA Fellowship (F31) – Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development

External fellowships, which are highly competitive awards from the federal government and other organizations, add to Carolina’s reputation as one of the world’s leading public research universities.
This academic year, 191 graduate students campus-wide, who represent 49 academic programs, received prestigious external fellowships.
