Abigail Ballard, PhD candidate in Wolfgang Bergmeier’s lab

Abigail Ballard, a BCBP PhD candidate in Wolfgang Bergmeier’s lab, was awarded a Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Predoctoral Fellowship (F31) from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. The proposal titled “The Role of the Small GTPase Rap1 in Platelet Coagulation Interplay” will investigate the regulation platelet procoagulant response by Rap1 and Rho family small GTPases over three years of fellowship funding. The project will utilize novel in vivo imaging techniques, proteomics, and functional platelet assays to establish the in vivo significance of Rap1 in platelet procoagulant response as well as the regulation of Rap1 activity by Rho family GTPases.
