Hashem Meriesh, under the direction of Dr. Brian Strahl, successfully defended his dissertation on April 10, 2020 and received his PhD. The title of his dissertation is “Elucidating the function of the histone H4 basic patch in SAGA-mediated histone H2B deubiquitination and histone acetylation”.
During his time at UNC, Hashem was awarded a T32 training grant through the Cancer Cell Biology training program and was a co-chair of a departmental student seminar series in addition to training and mentoring undergraduates in the lab.
