Congratulations to Lucia Stefanini, Research Assistant Professor of Biochemistry & Biophysics, who is only the second recipient of an EHA-ISTH Joint Fellowship.

In 2011, the European Hematology Association, in partnership with the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, created a collaborative program (EHA-ISTH Joint Fellowship) to fund a fellowship intended to support the study of physiology of coagulation, bleeding or thrombosis. The award amount is € 36.000 per year for a maximum of two years. Dr. Lucia Stefanini, Research Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics, is the second recipient of this prestigious early career award. Her study titled “Fine-tuning Rap1-dependent platelet activation with inhibitors of protein prenylation” is effective January 1, 2013.

Dr. Stefanini is a member of the Wolfgang Bergmeier lab and also holds membership in the UNC McAllister Heart Institute. She was also the recipient of a 2012 University Research Grant at UNC-Chapel Hill. To learn more about her work please contact her at lstefanini@email.unc.edu.
