Jean Cook hands gifts and awards to Marsha Lynn Ray for her retirement with Karlina Matthews in background

She’s officially off the clock!

On December 16, 2022, people from all over campus came by to wish Lynn off to a wonderful start to her retirement, (including members from our department, her peers from other units, retired faculty, and facilities members) and shared memories, treats, cupcakes, and laughter!

Our Department Chair, Jean Cook read a poem dedicated to her hard work, then presented her with many gifts and a Lifetime Achievement award from the department. Karlina Matthews, Associate Dean for Administration from the Dean’s office read a special message about Lynn’s dedication and 46 years of service to the School of Medicine and presented her with more gifts.

Thank you to the staff who helped us thank Lynn before her retirement; she will be missed.

Thank you message from Lynn Ray

Happy New Year to all in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics.  It has been a pleasure working and knowing each of you and I appreciate all the gifts and good wishes that I received from you.

I wish the department much success in the New Year and the upcoming years, and I know that all the efforts placed by faculty, students, post docs, and staff in making the department strong in the research fields that are represented, careers that are launched and the great science that comes from all the hard and dedicated work each of you put in everyday.

Wishing you the best!

Best Regards,

Lynn Ray
