Dr. Brian Jewett recently returned home to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Having previously trained at UNC, Dr. Jewett spent the past 20 years in Florida at the University of Miami, where he served for over a decade as Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Jewett is an alumnus of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where he received the Founder’s Medal for graduating with First Honors, and was a recipient of the Justin Potter four-year, full-tuition, merit scholarship. Dr. Jewett completed his residency training in Otolaryngology at the University of North Carolina and his fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Michigan.
While on faculty at the University of Miami (UM), Dr. Jewett was recognized with the highest achievable 5-STAR clinical award for scoring within the top percentile nationally in patient perception of overall quality of care. During the inaugural year of the UM Faculty HERO award, the university’s leadership selected Dr. Jewett to be one of the first to receive this exceptional honor. He has authored numerous articles and book chapters, and he has given many presentations as an expert lecturer at regional, national, and international meetings. He is a diplomat of both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS) and the American Board of Otolaryngology (ABO).
Dr. Jewett is committed to wellness initiatives, including working with patients and communities to promote functional wellness as part of a healthy lifestyle. He has served on medical mission teams in Kenya, Guatemala, and Santo Domingo to care for children with cleft lip and palate and other facial deformities.
In his spare time, Dr. Jewett dabbles in nature and sports photography, carpentry, and has served as a coach in multiple community youth sports programs. He enjoys spending time with his family, especially hiking and outdoor activities while visiting national parks.
