What is nasal airway surgery?

Nasal airway surgery is designed to address deviations within the nasal cartilaginous and boney framework that may be causing nasal obstruction. The septum is a midline cartilaginous and boney structure that divides the nose into two separate nasal passages.

Septoplasty surgery is designed to address any deviations or spurs of the nasal septum by contouring or repositioning the septum. Septoplasty can be approached through rhinoplasty incisions, or through separate incisions inside the nose.

How long does nasal airway surgery take to heal?

Recovery after septoplasty surgery may include intra-nasal splints for one week while the mucosal septal flaps are healing. Patients typically notice improvement in their breathing within a relatively short time period after septal surgery.
