What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning, also known as microplanning, is a comfortable procedure performed by gliding a blade across the very top layer of skin with gentle strokes to remove dead skin cells and the fine vellus hair, also known as “peach fuzz”.

We treat the following conditions with dermaplaning at the UNC Center for Facial Aesthetics:

  • Brown Spots / Uneven Pigment
  • Fine Lines, Wrinkles, Skin Texture
  • Preventative Skin Health

What Are The Benefits of Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning gently exfoliates for smoother skin and also reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scarring. Dermaplaning also allows for better product penetration and can be combined with other treatments, such as chemical peels or BroadBand Light (BBL) for a more efficacious treatment.
