Laser Genesis

Laser Genesis is a comfortable treatment that uses short bursts of laser energy to gently warm the surface of the skin and deeper layers to stimulate new collagen production, improve vascular conditions, scars, acne, and deep cleanse pores.

How does Laser Genesis work?

Laser Genesis is performed using a near-infrared Nd:YAG laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm. This wavelength targets vascular concerns such as rosacea, diffuse redness, and post-inflammatory erythema (PIE) from acne. Regular treatments rebuild collagen and elastin making improvements to fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and overall skin quality.

Does Laser Genesis hurt?

Laser Genesis is a comfortable, safe and effective treatment for all skin types. Patients describe the treatment as relaxing and therapeutic.

Laser Vascular

Laser Vascular treatments are used to precisely target unwanted visible facial vessels using laser energy. Common conditions treated with Laser Vascular include rosacea, redness (facial flushing), and facial veins (telangiectasia, broken capillaries).

Does Laser Vascular Treatment hurt?

There is a brief heat sensation as the energy is absorbed by the vessel. The laser hand piece used during the treatment has an integrated cooling mechanism that significantly reduces any treatment discomfort.

What should I expect after Laser Vascular treatment?

Most patients experience mild, temporary swelling that resolves over the next few hours.

Small capillaries become invisible almost immediately, larger vessels may appear darker or more pronounced, but will clear over the next several days.

Laser Hair Removal / Unwanted Hair

How does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal is a safe, effective way to remove unwanted hair. Laser hair removal works by heating the hair follicle. Hair follicles are in different stages at different times, which is why patients need multiple treatments. A hair follicle needs to be in its growing stage (anagen) for the treatment to work. Laser hair removal can be safely used on all skin types and tones. The procedure is most effective on people with light skin and dark hairs. This contrast allows the most energy to be absorbed by the hair. The treatment is not effective for gray, white or red hair.

What areas can be treated with laser hair removal?

The  UNC Center for Facial Aesthetics provides laser hair reduction for the face and neck.

What happens during laser hair removal?

A cooling gel will be applied to the skin. Then, the energy is delivered with a cooled applicator so there is minimal or no discomfort. For your safety, your eyes will be protected with safety shields. Treatment time will vary depending upon the size of the area treated and your hair and skin type. In most cases, you can resume your normal daily activities immediately.
