Diane Armao, MD, presented, “New neuropathological findings in the mouse and rat GAN KO models as springboards for drug discovery” at the NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS): Scientific meeting for the Phase I gene therapy clinical trial for the treatment of children with giant axonal neuropathy in January 2017 in Bethesda, MD.

Louise Henderson, PhD, began serving as an R01 co-investigator of a project funded in January 2017 entitled, “Comorbidity and screening outcomes among older women undergoing mammography” (P.I.: Dejana Braithwaite, PhD). Over three years, this study’s goal is to draw from the Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium and Medicare claims-based database in determining the consequences following screening in older women. The proposal also applies simulation modeling to comparing the benefits and harms of screening across levels of advancing age, co-morbid illness and functional status.

Louise Henderson, PhD, began serving as an R01 co-investigator of a project funded in March 2017 entitled, “Advanced Breast Imaging: Trends and Outcomes Associated with Recent Breast Density Reporting Legislation.” (P.I.: Natasha Stout, PhD). Over four years, the proposed study aims to examine the impact of state-specific breast density notification legislation on supplemental screening use and breast cancer detection rates in the United States using two large national databases.
