Leadership Pathway
The Global Health Leadership Pathway is a residency track with mentorship, targeted curriculum, and project integration for residents of the UNC Department of Radiology. Structured education on global radiology, epidemiology, health equity, access implications, and related methodologies gives our residents an edge as future leaders in an increasingly connected world. Background
The UNC RAD-AID Chapter was founded in 2012 by the UNC School of Medicine’s Division of Radiologic Science and the Department of Radiology. Currently, UNC Global Radiology supports established, longitudinal programs in Malawi and North Carolina. Most residents will complete the GHLP in these locations. If a resident has a well-supported and strong case for involvement in another location and if UNC GME supervision requirements can be completed for that location, then UNC Global Radiology faculty will discuss with departmental leadership and program directors on a case-by-case basis.

Global Public Health, Radiology, and Health Equity
The UNC Department of Radiology advances health equity through education, collaboration, and innovation.
Global health includes issues that transcend national boundaries, like cancer, and that require worldwide, multidisciplinary cooperation — so our partnerships have a Local to Global approach. We have active health equity programs in North Carolina and with international collaborators.
As part of the rich, longstanding tradition of UNC community engagement and service, our efforts align with the vision of UNC Health and promote the university’s aims within the Carolina Next strategic plan. UNC Radiology Residents participating in these learning opportunities contribute within established partnerships for a sustainable impact and receive mentorship on best practices.
