The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected millions of people and numerous companies and institutions across the world. The Radiology Clinical Research Division has been fortunate enough to withstand many of the challenges faced by so many others in the workforce. Our clinical research team has remained resilient over the past year due to their diligence, flexibility, and commitment to improving the health of others through our research.

Our team continues to grow as we are constantly onboarding more studies in spite of the pandemic. Although many patients are choosing to stay home during this time, the team has continued to enroll participants despite the odds. Our Internal Monitoring and Quality Assurance program has been actively reviewing clinical studies in our department. We have performed quality assurance reviews on several studies throughout the pandemic, totaling 6 full study reviews and 10 reviews of study regulatory documents.

The clinical research team has continued to stay connected by engaging in regularly scheduled check-in calls. Terry Hartman, Associate Director, Clinical Research Operations, has continued to promote gratitude and increase morale by encouraging the team to complete “awesome citations” or thank you notes to show gratitude to fellow teammates for acts of kindness and for going above and beyond the call of duty. The notes go into a drawing and the winners receive a prize. These notes are also read aloud to the group and have been instrumental in recognizing and increasing the comradery amongst the team.

Going forward, we hope to continue to grow closer as a team during these difficult times, conduct better research, and continue to progress clinical science in the field of radiology.
