On February 10th 2020, graduate student Odessa Goudy of Kuhlman lab gave a talk at Winter RosettaCON entitled, “Designing safer cancer immunotherapies: Autoinhibited PD-1 decoys.” Winter RosettaCON was held at the Simons Foundation, 160 Fifth Avenue in New York City, NY.

Aziz Sancar, MD, PhD, the Sarah Graham Kenan Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and member of UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, has been named the 2019 recipient of the Hyman L. Battle Distinguished Cancer Research Award.

This is the fourth annual class of Yang Family Biomedical Scholars, and the recipients are Chad Pecot, Li Qian, Gregory Scherrer, Greg Wang.

Inflammation is a hallmark of many health conditions, but quantifying how the underlying biology of inflammation contributes to specific diseases has been difficult. For the first time, UNC researchers and colleagues now report the development of a new technology to identify white blood cells called neutrophils that are primed to eject inflammatory DNA into the circulation via a process called NETosis.
