Edhriz defense title

 

Edhriz Siraliev-Perez under the direction of Dr. John Sondek, successfully defended his dissertation on March 27, 2020 and received his PhD!

 

 

The title of his dissertation is “Dynamics of Allosteric Activation of PLC-gamma Isozymes.”

During his tenure at UNC, Edhriz’ dedicated three and a half years to the Science Policy Advocacy Group (SPAG) where he held different leadership positions including President of the organization from 2017 – 2018. In this role, he led the development and implementation of a training series that included seminars and workshops on topics relevant to science policy including the federal budget, science communication in politicized environments, and writing policy briefs for diverse audiences. Over 25 participants completed the training series and received a certificate of completion. In addition, Edhriz is passionate about science education and for the last 6 consecutive years, he visited public schools around the state to guest lecture and engage students with hands-on activities.
One of the highlights of his time at UNC was receiving the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) that fully funded 3 years of education and stipend. His other honors and awards include travel awards from Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) as well as several poster awards at local symposiums and conferences.
Edhriz just accepted a position as Vector Production Scientist at StrideBio, a start-up company in RTP.
