Kanishk Jain, a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Brian D. Strahl’s lab, has accepted a tenure-track assistant professor position in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Dr. Jain obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, studying the catalytic mechanisms of arginine methyltransferases under the mentorship of Dr. Steven G. Clarke. He continued expanding his interests in histone posttranslational modifications (PTMs) as a postdoctoral fellow in the Strahl lab at UNC. Dr. Jain’s work in the Strahl lab has focused on uncovering a new method of crosstalk between histone H3 K4 methylation and H3 acetylation and understanding the regulatory roles of PHD-containing proteins in transcription. During his time in the Strahl lab, Dr. Jain received postdoctoral fellowships from the Cancer Epigenetics Training Program T32 training grant and the American Cancer Society.
