Maria Al Haddad 2022
Maria Al Haddad, GPSG Senator

Maria Al Haddad was elected by the BCBP department students to represent them as senator in 53rd session of the Graduate and Professional Student Government. The GPSG Senate, consisting of senators representing the different units on campus, is part of the legislative arm of the GPSG. In addition to being a senator, she will also serve on the Appropriations committee which advises the senate on the distribution of GPSG funding that goes to support professional development, academic, social and DEI programs.

Maria is second year graduate student in Sharon Campbell’s lab. During her first year at UNC, she was part of the BBSP Leadership group, a group of students who work with the BBSP director to voice the concerns of the students and help improve the experience of the current and upcoming cohorts.
Maria is passionate about representing BCBP students, advocating for change, and voicing their concerns to university leadership. Senators provide a vital insight into the needs of the students, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to Maria via email or Instagram DM with any comment, concern, request or idea. Alternatively, just stop by and she’ll be happy to chat!
