NIH and FDA Announce Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity
The Translational Science Interagency Fellowship is a new postdoctoral fellowship opportunity. Fellows will be jointly mentored by NCATS and FDA scientists on a research project of mutual interest to both organizations. Fellows in this 3-year program will develop skills of value to future careers in academia, the pharmaceutical industry, and government. Applications due December 15, 2021.

Annual $50,000 Innovation Pilot Awards Request for Proposal Released
Applications are due Jan. 18, 2022, and as many as four awards of up to $50,000 each will be announced in March 2022. All UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health employees from any owned entity are eligible to apply.

UNC Team Leads Resource for Evaluation of Research Training Programs
UNC School of Medicine and UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy leaders in professional development created a resource to help the National Institutes of Health evaluate T32 graduate and postdoctoral training programs at universities across the country. UNC School of Medicine’s Rebekah Layton, PhD, and Rob Nicholas, PhD, were co-leaders of this effort.
