The School of Medicine Office of Research has released its 2021 Research Round-up publication. This annual publication features 1-2 highlights over the past year that are submitted by each SOM Department.

Jared Peck Dr. Jonathan Fay and Dr. Joshua Strauss

Dr. Jonathan Fay, in collaboration with Jared Peck and Dr. Joshua Strauss of the UNC CH CryoEM Core, published a method paper in ICUrJ (International Union of Crystallography Journal) outlining their success in optimizing the function of a microscope for cryogenic electron microscopy (CryoEM).

Holly Shepherd, Student Services Manager, was awarded a School of Medicine pilot grant that covered her expenses at the National Association for College Admission Counseling conference.

We would like to share an update regarding the chair search process. The UNC School of Medicine leadership has invited 4 finalists to come for an on-campus/in-person visit in January and February. Watch your emails for details.

Cindy Johnson will be our Business Services Coordinator guiding us through the new Concur Travel system. She joins us from UNC Health.

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics will be closed for the winter holidays from December 24, 2021, to December 31, 2021. UNC Safety office 919-962-8100 (for an emergency, dial 911).
