Biospecimen Repositories are critical to PIs interested in conducting clinical research. The following centers/core facilities maintain biorepositories and may be open to collaboration (some restrictions may apply).

The BSP facility provides laboratory support for investigator-initiated large-scale clinical, epidemiologic, and other studies and functions as a human biospecimen repository. It also serves as a resource for clinicians who wish to store and study samples from unusual or potentially important patients.

The CEMALB biorepository is a QAIQC resource for the storage, disbursement, and curation of human biospecimens. Our facility supports CEMALB investigators, UNC collaborators, industry sponsors, and external investigators. We currently house over 750,000 biospecimens and have the capacity to meet future storage needs.

Centralized cell repository with over 400 cell lines available, as well as various computerized catalogues (American Type Culture Collection, NIGMS Human Genetic Mutant Cell Repository). Cell lines include normal and transformed mammalian, avian, insect, amphibian/reptile, and hybridoma cells.

MThe Core serves as a repository for long- and short-term storage of biological specimens from HIV+ patients in the UNC CFAR HIV Clinical Cohort (UCHCC) and maintains a current CDC-USPHS permit for importing HIV+ specimens from foreign countries.
