The Department of Neurology is pleased to announce that Dr. Julia Carlson was recruited to the position of editor for the NeuroICU Board Review Book, 2nd edition, as a neurocritical care fellow due to her interest in neurocritical care education. This review has been an opportunity to expand and improve the first edition of the book which is one of the most widely used books to review for the neurocritical care board exams. As an editor, Dr. Carlson assisted in recruiting authors, editing all chapters, and wrote several chapters herself. She also spearheaded a new section of the book called “Clinical Pearls” that provides a concise, and practical insights for patient care.
The NeuroICU Board Review, by McGraw Hill, is a well developed resource covering every topic found on the neurocritical care board exam. This resource provides an overview of neurological disease, neurosurgical management, critical care medicine, as well as topics such as ethics and professionalism.
The NeuroICU Board Review, 2eDr. Carlson joined UNC Neurology, Division of Neurocritical Care in July of 2022. She received her MD from Georgetown University and did her internship and Adult Neurology Residency at Johns Hopkins. She completed her Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2022 before joining UNC.
