Gillian (Jill) Watson, MHA has accepted the role of Associate Chair of Administration for the Department of Neurology, effective January 9, 2023. Jill currently serves as the Associate Chief for Administration for the divisions of Hospital Medicine and Geriatrics in the Department of Medicine at UNC – Chapel Hill. She has extensive experience in diverse areas of the academic medical enterprise including contracts and budgeting.
Jill brings with her a decade of UNC administrative experience, starting in 2012 when she joined the Department of Family Medicine as an administrative intern and then an operations analyst. Since then, she has served in several administrative roles, including as business manager of the Meadowmont Heart and Vascular Clinics.
In addition to her administrative roles, Jill is also a member of the UNC Medical Center Women Leadership Collaborative.
Jill received her BS in Business Administration from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, and her Master of Health Care Administration from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
UNC Neurology especially thanks Robert Statts for serving as Interim Associate Chair of Administration since March 2022 after Robert Smith, the previous ACA, was appointed Vice Dean for UNC Gillings School of Public Health. Robert Statts will continue his tenure at UNC in an administrative leadership role in the Department of Health Behavior at Gillings School of Public Health.
