Cerebrovascular Research
UNC is dedicated to promoting translational research to bring novel therapeutic development to the forefront of patient care. There are many studies underway to assess cerebrovascular disease from many different angles. A state-of-the-art imaging facility allows for improved imaging of patients with cerebrovascular disease. A team of researchers is presently looking to bank abnormal vascular tissue to study various pathologic markers in hopes to assist in developing treatment protocols. In addition, we are working to assess any hormonal markers which may be present to help identify intracerebral aneurysm and vascular malformation.
Cerebrovascular and skull base neurosurgeon, Dr. Carlos David is currently evaluating clinical outcomes in patients with clipped aneurysms.
