The UNC-CH Biochemistry and Biophysics department moves to establish a Postdoc working group with thanks to Kathryn Gunn and Wolfgang Bergmeier.

The idea behind the BCBP postdoc working group would be to give our departmental postdocs and research associates a community to interact with and come up with suggestions for improving postdoc life in our unit within the School of Medicine. The group will help plan postdoc town halls and advocate for postdoc concerns. Meetings are planned on a quarterly basis, so there is not too much of a time commitment to get involved.

To get the group started, Kathryn Gunn Ph.D., a postdoc in Neher lab, will be volunteering to serve as the first chairperson and Wolfgang Bergmeier Ph.D. has volunteered to serve as our faculty advisor. As chair, Kathryn will help organize the meetings and communicate information to the department. The Postdoc Group is seeking a volunteer to serve as the vice-chair, who would take over as chair next year.

Please reach out to Kathryn or Holly Shepherd in Student Services if you’re interested in being vice-chair or just come to the meeting!

An inaugural meeting with lunch is planned for March 16th at 11:30 am in GMB 3007. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by emailing either Holly or Kathryn. Lunch order forms will be sent closer to the meeting.
