The 2022-2023 Carolina Cares, Carolina Shares State Employees Combined Campaign launched Sept. 29. The campaign aims to strengthen North Carolina communities and provide UNC-Chapel Hill employees with an opportunity to make a difference across the state and nationally.

Alexis Stutzman graduate student in Jill Dowen's lab and Dan McKay's lab won an award for Most Outstanding Talk at the UNC Genetics retreat in Fall 2022.

Dr. Stockbridge received her PhD from UNC Biochemistry and Biophysics in 2010. She did her dissertation research in Richard Wolfenden’s lab studying thermodynamics of phosphoryl transfer reactions catalyzed by kinases.

Beka Layton, Alli Schad, Jean Cook, and Debra Ragland published a study in eLife on mental health disparities among biomedical graduate and medical students from historically excluded groups. Co-author Jean Cook, PhD, chair of the UNC Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics, has been advocating for providing more mental health resources for graduate students for years, especially during her tenure as associate dean of graduate education.

The UNC School of Medicine is accepting applications for bridge and boost funding. The deadline for applications is Oct. 10.
