PGY 2 neurosurgery resident, Olivia Gilbert, MD was selected for induction into UNC’s chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) National Medical Honor Society.

Membership in AΩA may be attained as a medical student, resident, fellow, faculty member, alumni, clinician, or distinguished leader in medicine. Dr. Gilbert was nominated by a former UNC School of Medicine medical student, writing that Dr. Gilbert “fosters trust while going above and beyond to mentor students and provides exemplary, patient-centered care” and that her “leadership with global neurosurgery efforts in Mauritania reflects her passion for serving others.”

Dr. Olivia Gilbert’s academic interests include pediatric, skull base, and global neurosurgery, as well as fetal repair of spina bifida.
