UNC Health’s multidisciplinary neuro-oncology clinic offers streamlined, high quality care for patients with brain tumors and spine tumors by bringing all of the tumor specialists together in one convenient clinic location.

UNC Neurosurgery faculty members will collaborate with other specialists from UNC Health to provide comprehensive care for all patients treated at the neuro oncology clinic. This team approach will allow our physicians to address each individual patient’s needs, and then make an informed decision on the most effective treatment. The clinic’s team includes neurosurgical oncologist Dr. Dominique Higgins, skull base and cerebrovascular neurosurgeon Dr. Carlos David, neuro-oncologist Dr. Yasmeen Rauf, radiation oncologist Dr. Colette Shen, and complex spine and oncology surgeon Dr. Michael Galgano.

“The UNC Health multidisciplinary neuro-oncology clinic brings specialists from all areas of brain and spine tumor treatment together to provide the best possible care for patients,” said neurosurgical oncologist and assistant professor, Dr. Dominique Higgins. “Our team’s broad expertise allows us to accurately make the diagnosis, and then provide the safest and most effective cutting-edge treatment strategy.”

The multidisciplinary neuro-oncology clinic will also make it easier for patients to schedule their appointments, since traditionally patients have multiple appointments at different clinic locations. “Our patients will be able to meet with all of the members of their brain or spine tumor care team in one convenient clinic location,” said Higgins. This is extremely beneficial for patients who are often traveling to the Triangle for care.

The multidisciplinary neuro-oncology clinic is located in the Ambulatory Care Center, located at 102 Mason Farm Road in Chapel Hill, NC.
