UNC has become a leading center for RNA research, with laboratories studying the form, function, and clinical applications of RNA at virtually all biological scales. The RNA Center retreat will be held on May 21, 2024, at the Kenan Center in Chapel Hill, NC.
BCBP members James (Ike) Emerson, Josh Boyer, Qi Zhang, and Bill Marzluff will speak at this event.
This event begins at 8:00 AM with a continental breakfast. The Center’s Director, Dr. Chad Pecot will give the opening remarks and Bill Marzluff PhD will make the introductions.

James (Ike) Emerson, the inaugural Bill Marzluff Graduate Student Fellow and Frank Conlon’s lab member, will be presenting “Sex Differences in miRNA Expression Regulate Cardiac Electrophysiology” at 9:15 AM

Josh Boyer, PhD, Assistant Professor, will be presenting “Progress in Developing Crosslinking and Anchoring Technologies for RNA Cryo-EM” at 10:15 AM

Professor Qi Zhang, PhD will be presenting “RNA in Action: Bring RNA Structure to Life” at 11:15 AM

Kenan Distinguished Professor, Bill Marzluff, PhD, will give his closing remarks at 3:00 PM.
